HOSTELLING INTERNATIONAL SEATTLE
As Programs Coordinator at Hostelling International Seattle (2005-2008), I organized and led programs whose goal was to encourage enriching interaction between travelers.
World Travel 101
My favorite of all the programs hosted by Hostelling International, this program put into action my deep belief in teaching America's youth about the importance of travel. Focusing on Girl Scouts of America and Girl Guides of Canada, activities allowed participants to plan fictional international trips, booking airline tickets and hotels, finding popular sights and local food, and learning to pack efficiently and work with a budget. Participants put these learned techniques into action by staying overnight in the hostel and taking on the city of Seattle from a tourist's perspective.

Introduction to Seattle
A daily PowerPoint presentation giving guests an overview of the city, highlighting activities, neighborhoods, use of public transit, and personalized itineraries.

A fun and tangible way to experience the fruits of another culture in the heart of everyone's home- the kitchen!
Neighborhood Walks
Heading to a popular attraction can lead tourists past a number of less-known curiousities. Having a local guide along not only hilights these unknowns, but encourages visitors to walk and use the city's public transportation.
Parties and Holidays
Providing a home-like space and a warm family atmosphere for those far from home during the holidays and educating travelers on the holidays and traditions of other countries.
HOSTELLING INTERNATIONAL SANTA MONICA
Selected by the Director of Hospitality for Hostelling International USA, I traveled to Los Angeles, CA to assist the Programs Coordinator with improving a number of aspects of the hostel, including guest information, signage, and activities participation.
After observing hostel check-in procedures and concierge work, I advised the general manager and team on ways to improve the customer experience and overall customer ratings. I created informative handouts for guests and encouraged the team to be active in continuing the creation of new handouts and updating old ones.
